The IBA Memorial- Gerlach Nevada

Honestly, I have avoided the IBA memorial for years.  I was afraid I would find it a sullen place, full of markers to dead friends.  My trip home from Canyonville, Oregon though, left me with the opportunity to visit the memorial on my own time and my own terms.  I had planned to spend some time there with the garden and contemplate life, the road and riding.

Still not a huge fan of the desert with it's endless shades of brown, tan and sometimes pale sagebrush green plus the oppressive heat, I can see why this location was chosen; this part of the desert is special.  Quiet, yet close to stuff.

In retrospect, I found the garden enlightening yet solemn.   It is a place we can gather to pay our respects to the giants whose shoulders we stand on.
